richardsingerband is currently npecrecordings biggest, most succcessful band. and that's probably only because they'r really popular right now. they started back in November of 2003 with the release of the castle cathedral soundtrack, which bombed. thus, the band quit and moved on to primarywords. Well, summer of 2004 came and after the then, KOSTYA porjects, they got back together, releasing "what you meant by a definite yes" the beginning of a series of unbeatable, unstoppable records which richard singer band has made npecrecordings known by.
the following is a biography from PureVolume's Richard Singer Band page, it was written around the time they released As Autumn Sound.
richard singer band is over a year old now. we started november 4, 2003. we kinda started a little late in the game for npecrecordings history, because WOW we started when npecrecordings was a little over a year old. now we saw the company get another year older. but most of you know, we are the guys who have been producing all of the npecrecordings music from the start. i mean with ALL the bands, we did that awful stuff we called 'audio manga'. most people haven't heard 'em.
oh wait, no i'm wrong, rendezvous had an extra member to it. i've since then lost touch with him, although we were supposed to get together at fiesta texas the other day... as you can tell, i am kind of in a talking mood. back to the subject.
in light of the style, richard singer band has always, like all the other bands npecrecordings or we produced, we have always had our little corner we stand in and we never leave too far from that corner in our style. richard singer band has never felt compelled to do much dance stuff, that stuff we called 'primarywords' (yes, we told you that we produce ALL the music for those bands). we have never been much into depression-trance-ambient music, that stuff we called then, KOSTYA. but like i said, we have never felt like leaving TOO FAR from that corner, because yeah, we got some stuff that could fit under then, KOSTYA style, and we got stuff that could fit under primarywords style. but we just HAD to make a record THIS SUMMER or life would be over.
as you can probably tell, we are a little used to talking about our style maybe or our music. so, i think i will talk about the record now... a lot of the storyline behind As Autumn Sound is about a decision i made a while back and it wouldn't have been made without the help of a very good friend. but anyways, no one will ever get the public story, just like with our last record "what you made by a definite yes" in fact, half the people DIDN'T EVEN GET THE TRACK TITLES... perty weird.
um, with this record (As Autumn Sound), we changed a bit of our style. this stuff could have fit under primarywords style but with MUCH MORE stretching from corner to corner than what it would take us guys, the richard singer band. so, that's why this is our record, not theirs. but we decided that since the last record (What You Meant By A Definite Yes), a hit, was lead-centered without many beats at ALL in there, we would put those beats back in there with just as much leads, so that's how we got our newer sound. we started out the new record (As Autumn Sound) back in August with mostly just the stuff not used on the last record and we just added the beats in there, you know "applying the new style". then we went and recorded some songs from scratch and the record is about half "new stuff" and half "cutting-room-floor-remixed stuff".
album and concept art came REAL nicely, i am part of this team that travels to other towns and competes in quizzes based on the book of Matthew in the Bible and the pictures i used were photos i took of the San Antonio highway. then i did some weird stuff with the colors.
the first official copies of the new record (As Autumn Sound) were handed out two Sundays ago, which was Halloween, no symbolism mind you. but i guess it kinda fits cause it's called "As Autumn Sound" and Halloween is probably the climax of autumn or something. kinda depressing though, i hate Halloween, but oh well.
(Yeah, I know, it kinda ends abruply, huh?)
